Email configuration doesn't work with SSL enabled

Hi, I am configuring BugNET to use Gmail's SMTP server with the config here: https://support.google.com/a/answer/176600?hl=en

With SSL disabled, BugNET reports that the test email sent successfully, but I've verified that no emails are actually being sent (they do get saved to "C:/Emails" though). With SSL enabled, I get the following error:
SSL must not be enabled for pickup-directory delivery methods.. Please see the error log for more details.
Any thoughts? I've already tried switching delivery method to Network, and that didn't work. Thanks in advance!

Remove the system.net section from the web.config. The source code is setup to drop email to C:\Email for debugging purposes.
<system.net>
    <mailSettings>
      <smtp deliveryMethod="SpecifiedPickupDirectory">
        <specifiedPickupDirectory pickupDirectoryLocation="C:\Email" />
      </smtp>
    </mailSettings>
  </system.net>
