I just wanted to get an idea of everyone's preferences for setting up attachment storage.

Would you prefer:
  1. that attachments be a system wide setting that is configured once for all projects at a system level (removed from project settings), similar to how database and html editors are configured via a provider.
  2. enjoy the flexibility of being able to configure it project by project.
  3. keep the existing implementation but add the ability to set it via the application configuration page and not let projects change it.

I'm not really sure why you're asking. For me, I just want it to work. We don't have "hostile" users, so we just want to add files and have them saved there. They need to survive system upgrades, and to be backed up, but that's it for us. We don't need to restrict their size or any of that.

Yes from an end users experience there should be no change. This is more a question for those who fill the project admin role or manage the app.

I personally would be more interested in a system wide setting. One of our other managers was bad about not allowing attachments when it was needed, then he couldn't make up his mind if he wanted attachments in the DB or on the HDD.

I would prefer this to be a system wide setting (as per 1.)
